Typhoid Fever in the Home for Neglected and Destitute Children
We are sorry to le-irn that typhoid fever has broken out in the Home for Neglected and Destitute Children, and is creating much alarm. The management have do termined on removing the infected ones, but have Leun unhappy in their selection of a place as a temporary ho3pitnl, and a strong feeling has been evoked among residents in Newton on the subject. Tae house selected is one owned by the City Council, and situated in the very heart of Kar&ngahape Road, and within a stone's throw of five schools. There is, also, a day school next door but one, ao that people who have children attending the schools consider that the inmateß of the Home ate being protected at a very great risk to others. The complaint is not, we think, unreasonable, and more suitable place for isolating the patients should be found.
