Wreck of the Brig Syren.
The following telegram from Captain Bower, of the briu S3 ren, was received on Saturday night by Mr. Q, VV. Binney :— " Tauranga, Saturday. " Syren ashore. Lost both anchois. The vessel very much strained. Gettirjg good atsistsnee from the mill hands."
No further particulars have been received, but it is conjectured that the Syren has gone ashore at the entrance to the Tairua where the Fanny Keily came to grief some twelve months back. By the captain's *r.ention of the assistance being beneficial, it may be inferred that the vessel is not on the rocks, but on the beach, and that she will be got off. Further particulars are anxiously looked for. The Syren left here last week in ballast. She is insured for £1000 in the South British, acd belongs to Mr. Joseph Howard.
