Government probably compelled to Defer Abolition-
It is understood that Sir George Grey will give notice to-morrow of a resolution for the production of the report or reports of the commission charged to inquire into the alleged improper issue of miner's rights at Ohinemuri, also for the appointment of a committee to enquire into the circumstances attending the acquisition of the transfer at Tauua of the Pokiraraki block?, for the valuation of the timber leases on the allotment of one thousand acres reserved for the natives of Tairua and for recognition of Prospectors' claim ; also, for the production of all correspondence and papers bearing on the appointment, duties and results of Brisrenden and other native land purchasers north of Aucklsnd. A caucus of Nelson merr-bers of both Houses to-day gave birth to a little pifj It was resolved that a bill for borrowing £50,000 be raised only in tbe colonies. They are to meet the Colonial Treasurer at 0 30 to-morrow. Maags-rs Bridge. Mr Sheehan is to ask, Under what authority and reason the Mangare bridge is debited against the £GO,OOO for roads and works north of Auckland ? The majority for the immediate abolition is falling rapidly, not exceeding four counted. It is currently rumoured and believed that the Government will reconsider their position, I can assert positively that the Bill will not be carried this session. All Parliamentary obstructions are firmly presented. The Opposition are determined, at any cost, to have the question remitted to the country. The whips on both sides are lashing vigorously.
