DUNEDIN.
(From our own Correspondent.) This day. The Supreme Court Difficulty.' After all, the unfinished banco business cannot be taken at Christchurch in consequence of tho Princes-street widening matter. All the business will have to be suspended till Judge Williams arrives. Scandalous Joking. Some curious circumstances have come to light in connection with the late Mayoral election. Jokes of a very offensive and annoying nature were resorted to for some time previous to the election. Printed cards were industriously circulated having for their object the holding of Mr. Walter up to ridicule, and this has been followed up by the forwarding of notes to a cumber of gentlemen purporting to be invitations issued by Mr. and Mrs. Walter to a party to be given this evening. Mr. Walter informs the Star that these letters did not emanate from him. It is evident these people have not reflected on the results that might follow the discovery of the authorship of such productions.
