PRINCE OF WALES THEATRE.

The Prince of Wales Theatre last evening was well attended on the occasion of the production of the romantic drama of "Rob Hoy." The principal and perhaps the only meritorious pieca of acting in this burlesque of a fine clannish story was that of the hero by Mr Hall. Mr Coutts was interesting aa Baillie Nicol Jarvie, and the songs and Scotch reels, by the Sisters Duvalli, were excellent. Rome disappointment was felt at the non-appearance of Miss Clara Stephenson, who was to have assnmed the character of Helen Macgregor. Mr Collier performed a dual representation of Eaahleigh and Owen, and Miss Maggie Knight appeared to some advantage as the Scotch lassie, and spoke the language of Mattie fairly for an Auckland-born lass. As a rule burlesques are failures, and we cannot conscientiously regard the Rob Roy of this company in a very different light. To night we observe that a change of scene will take place, and that an Irish drama, entitled "Hia Last Legs," will be given (O'Callaghan by Mr Collier), after which a grand comic pantomime will be presented to the audience with a fine transformation scene and the celebrated Can - Can dance. We notice that new scenery" has been painted by Mf Williams especially for this pantomime, illustrating the Naiad's haunt and the home of the Pixies of Devon ; also, some wellknown places in Queen-street. We expect, therefore, a great dramatic treat this evening at the Theatre, and are of .opinion that visitors will not be disappointed.
