CHRISTCHURCH.
(Per Press Telegram Agency.) Saturday. .Funeral Reform. At a meeting of the Funeral Reform Association, a resolution was agreed to, not to prescribe any set form of mourning, but that all members should promise the discontinuance of wearing expensive mourning, and especially crape by females. Also to encourage the wearing of nothing more than a band of crape or cloth on the left aim, as a sign of mourning by males. It was also re soh ed to purchase a horse and trap, to let on hire, j.or funerals at a cheap rate, Disgraceful Outrage. A most disgraceful scene took place yesterday. _ The outskirts of the town are seldom visited by the police, and there is ample space for perpetration of brutal outrage without interference. A dozon or more of men and larrikins were drinking in a house near twe town belt, and two began the disturbance by falling into the gutter, biting and kicking one another. After some time others got excited, and a free fight ensued. Directly one was down the whole pack set on mm, and^in this way several were nearly killed. No oue seems to have interfered. One had bis j«iw broken by a kick, and the extent of injuries to others is not yet known.
