It will be very satisf cbory to all interested in the building and repairing of ships at this port to learn that by the last mail Captain Clayton received intimation of his appointment as Lloyd's surveyor at Auckland for clashing and surveying slips. The difficulty of having lccal!y-bni':t vessels clawed at Lloyd's can now be obviated, and vessels of the character of the " Novelty " can ha' c the stamp affixed that gives name and fame, without being taken to bits for examination.
