(Before Dr. Home, and C. N. Marshall, Esq , Justices.) -THE DRUNKS. Hugh Mackie, for being drunk, was fined sS'Bdward SLodae, Matilda Kelly alias Jones, William Joyce\ Peter Peterson, who. in addition to being drunk were charged.with being disorderly, received a double penalty; except Peterson, who wasn't sure whether he was drunk or not; so the case had to be proved, and a quadruple fine was imposed. A DANGEEOUS G-VSIE. Thomas Baker was charged with assaultin" Constable Moore in the discharge of his duty, on the 14th insfc. The prisoner said he did noc know anything about the charge ; he wu drunk. Mr Inspector Brohain having alluded to the circumstances, the prisoner was fined 20s. and costs, or in default 48 hours' imnrisonment. ' DESERTION. Alcsmore Wildman and David Winch were chafed with deserting from H.M S., At'the applic&tion of Mr. Inspector Broham they were remanded for a week. A PALTRY CHARGTS. Robert Seaton was charged with riding on the footpath in Symonds-street without the permission of the City Council Mr Robinson, who appeared for the defendant, said, the occurrence was purely accidental. Mr. Inspector Brobam said from what he had heard, he believed ifc was so, and with their Worship's permission, would withdraw the charge. A SAD OA.-TC. Kate Maxwell was charged with a breach of the Vagrant Act in being anjnco r'gible roaue anA a common prostitute, and also with behaving in an indecent manner in the public streets. The prisoner, who is 3 young not ill-looking girl, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 3 months bard labour. THE SUSPECTED IKCENDIAKISM. Snsan Conley. -fames Conley, James Conley, junr., and Harriet Eot'-on appeared on remand to answer a charge of wilfully and feloniously setting fire to a certain dwelling house in Official Bay the proper by of James Conley junr,, with intent to defraud the New Zea'lalanrl Insurance Company on the Gth July, 1875. Mr Brookfield asked tbat the charge might be withdrawn as against James Conley senr., James Conley junr., and Harriet Rotfcon. These three were discharger!. A fresh information was laid against Susan Conley, and on the application of Mr Brookfield she was remanded for a week.
