The brigantine Ethel arrived from Lyttelton this morning. Captain McLeod reports having left Lytteiton last Monday week' with light S.W. winds. Eounded the East Cape on Saturday with northerly winds. Sunday had to heave to off the Mercury Island with a heavy N.W. gale. , After lying to for twelve hours started xtfith west wind and for the rest of the ; passage had light S. and W. winds. Passed a barque and a brigantine standing to ths Korth off the East Cape. The Ethel left Lyttelton in company with the Fairlie. [The brigantine passed by the Ethel would probably be the Omaha, which left Lyttelton for Auckland six days before the Ethel].

The Kebroyd, barque, left Sydney for Auckland on the Ist inst.

The schooner Onward cleared out to-day for Mangawai via Russell with 6 tons flour and.sundries.

The schooner Kate Mc'Gregor arrived from iiussell with a cargo of 100 tons coal at midday to-day. She left Ruasell yesterday morning. The s. s. Fretty Jane left this afternoon for Gisborne and Napier with a general cargo and several passengers including Major Westropp, Capt. Bracklick, Capt. Johnstone, Lieut. Sellars, Messrs. Balneavis and Burnett. The steamer was detained a short |ime by an accident to her machinery. 1 The schooner Echo cleared for Awanui |ith a miscellaneous cargo this morning. liThe cutter Leo brings 55 tons coal, 34 bags gjim, 10 hide 3. »nd 6 casks from Russell, iffhe barque Stag, 335 tons, Captain Kerr, lap Sydney for Auckland on the Ist mat. SJfc was in ballast, fhe s.s. Llewellyn is advertised in the Styney Morning Herald, to leave for Aucklait on or about the 10th inst.
