A MONKEY AT LARGE AT ELLERSLIE !

The large monkey kent at Mr. R. Graham's gardens, Ellerslie, broke loose yesterday. Incautiously seizing hold of the animal, the vicious creature turned upon him, biting the top of his thumb nearly in two, and lascerating his hand in a frightful manner. The savageness of the brute led to its own destruction, for it was ultimately deemed advisable to prevent the possibility of a repetition of yesterday's occurrence by shooting the animal, which was accordingly done.
