A Maori, David Marshall, James Macdona'd. and' William Macdonald were fined for this offence.
TRAINING PHIP VSCAPEES.
John Donovan and William H Woods, charged with escaping from the Training ship, were remanded till to-morrow. CHARGE AGAINST A SLAUGHTERMAN.
John Whisker, slaughterman, of Newmarket, was charged with ill-treating a sheep by striking it repeatedly with a cleaver ; also with assaulting Mr Reeves, butcher, of Hobson -street-, by throwing filth at him and striking hitD therewith.
Mr Thome for plantiff, applied for an adjourn mant for a week, as Mr Giles, his principal witness, was .on the Jury at the Sopreme Court. Mr Hesketb objected on the around that he had to go away from Auckland, and the defendant had to go to Waibato.
Both cases were ultimately withdrawn upon defendant paying the costs of one. This was all the business.
