MAKETU.
(From, our own Correspondent.) This day,
A Cilef Dying.—Great Tangi. TemueraTe Amatau is dying. His loss ■will be our gain. The tangi over Hem ana's fcody is done. Presents of food, clothing, carved canoes, &c, estimated at £2060, changed hands. N The native members of the Armed Constabulary at Eotorua are changing stations, and European members are to supply their place. This is good for tourists. Serious Accident to Gilbert Mair-
Gilbert Mair, Esq., met with a serious accident the other day while out shooting, when his horse threw him. He is mending fast.
Vexatious Government Delays. Through vexatious Government delay the Te Pake block will be again cropped and occupied by natives instead of Europeans. The land having been paid for long ago makes thiß state of affairs inexcusable. As usual it is the fault of Wellington.
