Passengers - Miss M. Brown, Mr and Miss Stone, Uv C Wylie. Burn.tt, Thompson, Master O. _._rchas, Mr and Mrs Colyer, Mr J. S. Macfarlano, Mr McMillan, Mr J. T). The ss Phoebe arrived in the Manukau, to-day, with the following passengers :—Mr and Mrs Adams and family, Miss McMenamen, Messrs Conroy, Buc__hnrst, Owen, Duke, Davis, V ourg, Lowe, and six in ,_ the steerage. . s —-- 'She barquentine Falcon, Captain Bendall arrived at fjfylney from Hohart Town on the 21st .June. Thess Cyphrenes arrived at Sydney on the 25th June, after a passage of six days. The ■ improved weather this morning enabled the vessels detained by the gales of the last few days to get away to sea. Among those who are conspicuous by -heir absence to-day are the brigs Rio Loge and Deiwent, the Blanche, schooner, and the coaster Golden lile , The three-masted schooner Agnes Jessie has entered outwards for Guam. Captain Bower, late of the Derwent has assumed. command of the brig Syren vice Captain Sainty resigned. A preliminary trial of the engines of the Pretty Jane took place yesterday. The official trial trip will come off in a day or two, when she will make a run to the Kawau and back. The Austrian ship Jennie, which arrived at New York on the 2nd May, from Mantazas, narrowly escaped being swamped by several immense waterspouts while off Cape Hatteras. The officers of the vessel say these waterppouts were the largest they had ever seen. The largest covered an area of half a mile, and wera at least 1000 feet in height Sometimes they were straight, and at other times inclt. Ed, but i always whirling around with great raoiditv. The crew broke several by firing guns into them, the concussion of the air causing them to burst, when they tumbled back into the sea with a fearful spl_sh The water was fairl" white with foam. The ship Caller Ou cleared to-day, in ballast, for Newcastle. Passengers—Mr a-nd Sirs Dixon. The brig. Albion has cleared for-Kaipara with a cargo ot storesi _, H.M.S. Didb is to leave for "Wellington to-morrow morning. 1 *" „ The brig <_la(lston6 sailed from Adelaide for this port on the Bth June. _-be has on board 2701 sacks (11,583 bushel-) wheat, and is consigned to D.
