Accidental Drowning.
A MAir"named Siva, a foreigner, met his death this morning by drowiing in the harbour. He was employed as obe of the hands on board the cutter Rob Royjand during the night waß on board the vessel, which lay at anchor between the Breakwater and the Queen-street Wharf. At hall-past five this morning the deceased was on deck with the mate, whose name is J. F\ Johns. The latter bad occasion to go}below; and when he returned in about sten minutes Siva was not to be seen. 4fter looking for and not finding him, Johni gave information to the Water Police, wBo instituted a search with drags. About tenio'clock the unforunate man was found drowted near the cutter, and was conveyed by t|ie police to the D^ad-house. From the slate of deceased's clothes.there is no doibt he was privately engaged at the time m fell overboard. An inquest will be heldlo-morrow. Siva was formerly chief officer of |he whaler Albion. — ■ |
