MUTILATING A RACEHORSE.
MURDER OF A CHINAMAN.
SYDNEY.
June 26,
The Government has arranged with the A.S.N. Company for a continuance of the temporary Pacific service. The Rev. Dr. Antliff, President of the Primitive Methodist Connection has made a tour throughout New South Wales. His last Sunday service in Sydney was attended by 1500 people. A valedictory tea meeting was given him on the 21st. A telegram has reched Sydney to the effect that the body of Duke of Athol, who was stolen from Mr J. T. Tindale, of Bylonej some time since, has been discovered. The unfortunate animal, which was valued at between £2,000 and £3,000, had been shot through the head, and then mutilated by having his legs cut off and teeth knocked out —in order to prevent identification, and the body was also partially destroyed,- _>y pre. The remains were found some fifty or sixty miles from Bylong, a D d it is a matter of surprise that the hbrse could have been led or driven such a distance without discovery. Duke of Atbol was one of the most fashionably bred staUions that has ever reached our shores from the bid country. It is clear that the cowardly outrage was committed to gratify a morbid revenge. The Bon. Saul Samuel, CM., has been elected director of the Mutual Provident °A ieJsA named Ernest de Grassett was accidentally poisoned by an overdose of carbolic acid. \
