The mail via Torres! Straits has been delivered in London. -In the appeal to $he Privy Council, Colonial Bank of Victoria v. Ettershank, the plaintiffs sued upon two promissory notes given by the defendant in favour of Mr Donald Ferguson and Mr A. Staekpoole, and discounted by the bank. The defence was that Mr Burnes, the jnanager of the bank, had waived the plaintiff's right to recover the amount of the bills, lb this it -was answered that the manager hid no authority to abandon the claim of che bank to any property that belonged to it. The Court held that the manager had power to bind the bank, and a verdict returned for the defendant was therefore sustained. The appeal was dismissed with costs.
