WELLINGTON.
(Per Press Telegram Agency.) Monday. New Steamer. The directors of the Hew Zealand Steam Shipping Company are considering tenders from England for the construction of two large steamers, superior in power and size to the Bawea and Taupo, recently built for the Union Company, Dunedin. If they decide upon acceptance of tenders, the capital of the company will be increased. This day. Amended Stamp Act. The Government will, introduce early in the session a Bill for the consolidation and amendment of the present Stamp Duties Act. Although the revenue will not be affected by this measure, it will, it is believed, simplify the collection of the duties, and at the same time facilitate the transaction of business. Bank Arrangement. It is understood the several Banks in the colony have entered into an arrangement which binds them to adopt uniform rates of interest, discount, &c. Phtebe's Passengers.
