" ARRIVAL OP THE WELLINGTON.
The s.s. Wellington arrived in the Manukan at six o'clock this morning; but got aground on a sandbank off the Huia, and consequently did not get up to the ■wharf till after noon. We are informed that the cause of the mistake which led to the grounding was a floating kerosene tin, which int.he dim litjhthad the appearance of a black buoy. The vessel has not sustained any damage The passengers and mails were sent up to Onehunga in boats The followare her passengers : The Chief Justice and Secretary, Dobson, Sawyer, Engel, Etheridge, Owen, "Chudleigh, Ganning, Henderson, Atkinson, Gabb, Vessell, Anderson and boy, Kay, Crowley, Smith, Healey, Sommerville, Ball, Eeid, Cowburn, Mr. and Mrs. Judd, Mr. and Mrs.-Wilson, Miss Lodge, Miss South.
The Wave, brig, from Auckland, has arrived safely at Timaru. The A.S.P. Company's Southern Cross arrived from Napier via the Thames yesterday in ballast. She landed GO hfc.ad of cattle and about 300 sheep at Tararu on Saturday. Passengers :—Messrs Thornton and August, Captain Braddick. The cutter Mercury has cleared for Tairua ■with a cargo of stores. The schoonea Estelle left yesterday for Wangaroa and Melbourne. The brig Rio Lodge cleared out to-day for Puset Sound in ballast. She sails to-morrow morning. At Pugets Sound the Rio Loge is to load Oregon pine for Lyttelton. The s.s. Star of the South sailed to-day for Levuka with a general cargo. Passengers :— Messrs Paulin, Kipper, Bow, Jones, Warwick Weston, Miss Wilson, Mrs Drury, and C 4 children, and 10 in the steerage. k \ The ship Caller Ou entered out to-day for re» \Newcastle. , Ja\ \ The schooner Ocean, having entered in S 6 -om Mercury Bay with 18,000 feet timber, rou\ Jas cleared out for the came porb with stores. The schooner Clyde arrived last night from Wangarei with a cargo of produce and several passengers. The brig Derwenfc sailed for Mongonm and Melbourne this day at noon. The schooner Blanche has been brought alongside the new western T of the wharf to load timber and other cargo for Rarotonga.
