The s.s. Taranaki, Captain Lloyd, arrived at Onehunga at noon. Left Dunedin at 2 p.m. on 15th ; arrived off Taranaki at 4 30 p.m. 22nd, having experienced a strong gale with thick dirty weather from Nelson. Were unable to with the shore ; left again ot 5.30 p-m., arriving as above. We are indebted to C. J. Edmiston for files, &c. PasseDgers : Saloon—Misses Scott, Campbell, Holford, Taylor, Mr and Mrs Ireland, Mr and Mrs Allen, Master Hay, Messrs. Munk, Reeves, Tole, Davis, Kennedy (2), Burnett^ Mackay, and nine in the steerage. The brig Sarah sailed about the 20th instant from Moeraki, for this port. She comes consigned to Messrs. Coupland and Co., and her cargo consits of flour, oats, and "bran.
The St Kilda is appointed to leave for Wanganui to morrow, at 1 o'clock. The corvette Dido arrived from a cruise round the coasts of the Northern ports of the East Co3st of this island. After leaving here on Monday, the 7th inst., the Dido proceeded to the Kawau, and remained there from Monday 1 ill Saturday. Thence she went to the Bay of Islands, arriving thera on Sunday morning, nna reminicg till the following Thursday. From ttie Bay the. L'idu visited the port of Wangaroa. She left for Auckland »t 7 o'clock on Thursd*/ morning, and arrived here at 2 o'clock tbis morniEg. Nothing remarkable occurred on the trip. The Dido proceeds to Wellington in about a week. Captain Stavew, to wh/in we ate indebted for Sydney and Newcastle files to the 12th ins'ant, reports that he left on Sunday, 13th J nne. Had westerly winds at first, followed f.y -S K. g«ie3 moderating as the vessel leached land. Sighted the Three Kings on Sunday, the 20th Down tho Cca3; N. W. winds, arriving at midnight on the 22ad. Spoke the barque EspecaUdor 10 miies South of the Nortn Cape on Monday evening The barque *lbion and the brigs Victory and Aloion are rapidly dischargyie at the wharf. The wheat from the two latter vesseis is turningouc weil.no twithstanding its ioni( detention on shipboard. The ss Pretty Jane, having been thoroughly renewed in her hall, fittings, and machinery, was brought round yesterday from Mechanics' Buy and placed on the gridiron. 6h» will be ready under much improved conditions, as regarda speed and accommodation to resume her ordinary trade in about a week. The cutter Pawn b-icg* 38 tons coal, 3t» bags gum, and 2 boxes luggage from Russell. The schooner Colonist has arrived from the Thames and chared out in ballast for itusseil.
The anxilia:y-screw biigantiue Emu arrived from the Thames in ballast at midnight. She is loading for Levuka, and will sail probably to-morrow.
