MAKETU.
(From our own Correspondent.) This day.
The Native Suicide. Te Hemana's body was" brought to Maketu yesterday, escorted by 250 Ngatirangtihi under Aurania Karaka, their leading chief. They were met at Te Waharoa entrance by an immense concourse of native belonging to Te Takehe, Ketorua, and Maketu. There was a considerable amount of ill-feeling between the different sections of the tribes, which has how passed away. This is entirely owing to the judicious management of Mr. Hamlin, our Resident Magistrate, who brought to bear a knowledge of the native character possessed by a few. The guns which were loaded with ball a few weeks ago to revenge a fancied wrong have now been fired in token of renewed friendship between two of the leading tribes of Te Arawa.
