Escape of a Dangerous Lunatic.
A ltjvatic, named John Ost, escaped from the Whau Asylum this morning, about Kalf. past seven o'clock. When the attendant wag engaged passing out some articles of ■wet bedding to dry in the air, Ost made a rash at him, and, getting past him, set off at his best speed into the country. Up to noon he had not been captured. Osfe was received), into the Asylum on the 4th February, 1874 He is described as a very dangerous maniac, having once nearly killed a man in the Waikato district. He is aboat sft. Bin. in height; has light, sandy hair, and light compiexion. He was dressed at the time of his escape in moleskin trousers and blue-serge shirt. He was bareheaded and barefooted. Any person who can give information to the police as to his whereabouts will be conferring a benefit on the community by doing so.
