Awfully Sudden Death!
A tereible illustration of the uncertainty of life is fuixished by the death of William Dodds, a labourer, which occurred last ni^ht at the Harbour View restaurant on the wharf kept by Z. Vare. The deceased was a miner by trade, but had been getting his living as a labourer, and had resided at the boarding - house mentioned above for about five weeks. Yesterday he appeared to be in his usual health, but in the evening complained of feeling sore. About ten o'clock he had partaken of a cup of coffee and was sitting on the edge of the table talking, when he suddenly fell forward on to the floor and expired a few minutes afterwards. A messenger was immediately despatched by Mrs. Vare to bring a doctor, but although he called on four not one could be induced to venture out into the fearfully inclement weather that prevailed. Their. services, however, could not have been of any avail. Information was also given to the police, and an inquest will be held on Monday. 1 here is no doubt whatever that Jdeath has resulted from natural causes.
