GOOD TEMPLARY AMONG THE MAORIS.

(To the Editor of the Evening Star. )

Sir, —My endeavours for the advancement of the Order of Good Templary amongst the Maoris has met with greab success in every settlement I have visited. It is surprising in a great measure the number of natives who have joined our Order in Poverty Bay. I have been left without any help, yet I am under the impression that I have executed so far the task I have in hand. 1 have confined myself to the teaching of the first part of Good Templary amongst the Maoris, immediately following a method of my own, which I have gone through on several occasions during my visit to the Kaipga-Maoris. Presuming there is an opportunity at hand for exerting the attention of the native race to make a quicker progress in the 1.0. G.T., I consider it proper to comply with the Wishes of my friends, and lay before the public the names of all those native chiefs who have joined the ranks of Good Templary, with a number of written speeches delivered by me on the East Coast.—l am, &c, Chakles Baron de Thierry.
