DOMAIN BOARD.

The adjourned meeting of the Domain Board was held to-day at noon.

Present, His Worship the Mayor (chairman,) Messrs Mitford, Heale, Hughes, and Brett. LEASING- rOJTAIN". The secretary, Mr Brown, informed the Board, that the only business was the subject of leasing the Domain, and that it had been proposed to place it in Mr. Cochrane's hand, and it was usual to advertise for tenders. After some discussion by members, it was moved by Mr Heale, seconded by Mr Mitford, and carried, "That the Domain be leased on certain conditions to be named, and that the secretary call a meeting of the Board as soon as the report shall be ready." CONDITIONS. The following conditions to be embodied in the lease, namely, that the lessee maintain and deliver up the fences and gates in good repair; that the carriage gates be kept unlocked from 8 a.m. till sunset ; that* no buildings or booths be erected or stalls allowed without the permission of the Board ; that the public be allowed free ingress and egress during those hours, with or |without horses or carriages ; the Board to have power to lay out the road and plant trees in any part thereof ; allowance to be made for land taken for such purposes, at the same rate as the lessee pays per acre ; the football club to be allowed to play only on a portion reserved for that purpose, about one acre and a half ; if let by auction at least five acres should be permanently under-drained, broken up, and laid down in grass every year with 5 cwt. bonedust to an acre; no portion of the same to be cropped without the consent of the Board ; no wild cattle to be depastured within the precincts. MULBERRY TREES. It was announced that one thousand mulberry trees were now in the Domain, to which the public are welcome free of charge on application to Mr Chambers. Mr Brett informed the Board that Bince the last meeting he had seen Mr Penton on the letting of the cottage, and had agreed withjMr Fenton ; suggestion aa to the terms.
