Shocking Accident near the Rail way Line.
A shocking accident occurred this morning near the railway line at Tuakau. We have only very meagre particulars. It seems that as a train was coming down from Mercer this merning when nearing a road orossing, a horse coming up drawing a cart was seen to take fright at the sight of the locomotive, and backed over a steep embankment into a swamp. Mr Dent, who observed the occurrence, was in the last van, and he.called loudly to the engine driver, but the train had gone a quarter of a mile before Mr Dent, who bad shouted himself quite hoarse, could make his voice heard. The train was'then stopped and assistance at once went to the relief of the unfortunate man, who was found under the cart with his arm smashed near the shoulder. The cart was lifted off, and the poor fellow extricated. He was conveyed to Tuakau, where his injuries were attended to. ;J
