Further particulars are publishod of the kidnapping and other outrages on board the Daphne, in the South Seas, and it is publicly stated that a son of Captain Devlin, of Molboxirne, was captain of the vessel, and that young Hepburn, of Hawthorne, was the super-cargo.. They both left tho colony at the .time that Mount and, Morris were tried, and have not since-been heard of.
A prisoner in Pentridge, .with property valiiod at £10,000, is dying. Prisoner, who was the father of six children, was undergoing a Bontonco of two years' imprisonment for forgery. Before his conviction ho made a will, leaving all he possessed to his eldest daughter, making no provision for the others. He refused to accode to the solicitations of his friends, who desired him to alter the will in question. - "■'
A case has been heard at Boochworth, involving a charge of entrapping females in Melboiirne, .servants, and sending them to Beechworth for prostitution. ' In the case in question, where the woman refused to accept the alternative, she was discharged and left without a home or a shilling. The bench, after hearing the case, awarded her a sum for board, lodging, and opach fare back again to Melbourne.
Mr Hammersley has resigned his position as a member of ths . All-England Matoh Committee on the ground that the committee has boen abused by the friends of Wills, who desire to see him in the Victorian team. iThe objections" urged against Wills are tiisj unreliability, both socially and in the cricketing field.- li ■ ■ "The Governor (Sir G.
