The barques , Helens and Dovercourt, which sailed from Melbourne, for Newcastle, N.S.W., on Nov. 27, in ballast, had only got a few miles down the bay when they fouled each other. Both vessels were beating down against a light southerly wind, and when off Brighton the Helens ran into the Dovercourt, striking her just on the port bow, and letting abundant* daylight into the fore hold. Fortunately, however, the Dovercourt was not cut down below the water line, and was enabled to sail back to the bay. She seems to have had a hard crack, a great deal of her outside and deck planking forward having been started. The Helens had her jibboom carried away, and her cutwater, and had also one or two planks started on tho starboard bow. Both vessels were in charge of pilots, and an examination into the causes of the accident will bo made without delay by the Pilot and Marine Boards.— Argus, November 28. .. . " -
