TION TO MR. MACKAY.
GRAHAMSTQWN,
This day,
A large and influential deputation waited on Mr Maokay this morning . relativo to statements made by him in tho Lands : Court regarding Ohincmuri. He had intimated that he could put a different complexion on affairs. There was a good deal of conversation, which only resulted in Mackay stating that tho Govornmentwore engaged innegotiationsfor purchasing. iHe declined to make the stop public as the newspapers would get hold of it, and negotiations would then be impeded. He also stated that the, political difficulty was that another murder might be committed, suoh as Sullivan's. The members of the deputation expressed themselves very much dissatisfied with Mr Mackay's statement. Thej Pumping Association's repairs have been" completed. Pumping was resumed to-day. The Waitemata have started crushing. There is a very fine show. A crushing of 12 tons from the Hazelbank gave 41 ozs. The Bright Smile, driving on No. 1 reef, have broken into No. 2 winzo this morning.
