HARBOUR BOARD.—This Day.

Therv was a meeting or the Auckland Harbour Board this afternoon. Pereut: Capt. Daldy (in the chair), Messrs Phillips, Casey, ■Niccol, Fraser, Williams, Kissling, Yon der Heyde, Issacs, Eaton, Boylan. The minutes of the provioua meeting were read and confirmed. Letters written by the authority of the Board since last meeting were read, and the > following. correspondence received since last meeting was submitted :— Letter from Mr McKellar, thanking the Board for their expression of approval of his services as a member of the Board. From Mr E. Moriarty, further postponing his visit to Auckland. From Mr A. Beetham. calling attention to a nuisance arising from shipbuilding on North Shore endowments. From the Town Clerk relative to the boundaries of the City West, Freeman's Bay, where it was alleged there was an encroachment by the Harbour Board. Mr Philips said this was a question of importance, and he would move that the Endowment Committee confer withjthe city authorities on the matter. Captain Crfsey seconded i the motion, which was carried. j A memorial signed by Dr Campbell, Captain Casey, and sixty-six others was- read praying for an opening in the sea-wall at Mechanics' Bay so as to admit vessels to pass through. The matter was referred to the Endowment Committee to report to the Board. Mr Philips called attention to the matter of filling in the intake, which it was considered would not answer the object sought to he obtained—a removal of the existing nuisance. No further^ action was taken in the matter. The following tenders for renewal of wharf were read :—W. Blewden, £2848 ;J. Taylor, £2497 ; McKay and Ross, £254S ; R. Watson, £2767. The Clerk of Works estimated the cost at £25.30. The tender of Mr Taylor was accepted. The following tenders were read for the approach from "Drake-street to Freeman's Bay works :—J. McShane, 2s per yard ; Dempsey, Is 3d do. ; Marshall, Is Gd do. Mr Dempaey's contract was accepted. • The following tender for Devonport wharf tolls was read :—Duder Bros., £S per year. The tender was accepted. (Left sitting )
