GRAHAMSTOWN.
This day. The Sir Walter Scott lodge of masons celebrated St. Andrew's day by a special service at the Presbyerian Church, which was crowded to excess. The Rev. J. Hill preached an eloquent sermon. At the close a collection was made on behalf of the Ladies' Benevolent Society. To-day a picnic is being held at the Tararua gardens, but the weather is unfavourable. The Ohinemuri correspondent of thflj" Advertiser states that a very large nr r •*-.'■■ ' of blocks of land in that district"^-.^. to be put through the Native LandsX^ "%?* which sits here on the Sth inst. They have asked the Superintendent to grant £au enquiry The most serious charge is that Inspector Bullen was uncivil to one of the prisoners These are the men who are striving to break down the present police system.
