THE HAIRLESS HORSE.
One of the most wonderful looking creatures ever seen in the colonies has arrived and is , ; to hold a levee on Saturday evening. Caoutchouc, although a lussus natures, was made when nature was in her kindly mood ; and so far from there being any approach j to that deformity which usually characterises departure from the ordinary ways of nature, the ""Hairless Horse" is really i a model of symmetry and beauty. Not ;f| one solitary' hair can be found on him, I fronrthe tips of his ears to the tip of his tail, . j while his skin, bearing a general resemblance ! to India-rubber, is as soft as kid/ The animal jags is exceedingly gentle, and seems to enjoy „—- : the caressing to which he has been so liberally \ treated by I'all his visitors. We may add that ladies and children have usually attended his levees down South in quite as large numbers as have the lords j
v "3fbf the creation. Caoutchouc's owners are on ffjheir way with him to California, per first steamer of the new service, and we do not hesitate to say that when once they reach the centres of dense population in America . and Europe, their beautiful Tprotege will be a " Caledonian " to them, and excite a wonderful interest not only among horsey people, but the admirers of strange sights in general
