Arrival of the Ferndale.

The bare pie Femdale arrived off Rang.toto reef last evening, and came up abreast of the Flagstaff, North Shore, early this morning, where she will remain for the purpose of discharging twelve tors of powder. She has made the passage from the 'Downs into i>oi j bi 106 days, md b-.ngs a large cargo of general merchandise," but no passengers. The barque is consigned to the New Zealand Shipping Company, and wi'l be brought up the whaif as soon as the powder is landed. Captain Frazer reports lea\.ng the dock on August Ist ; took powder on board at Gravesend, and sailed the same evening at S p.m. The pilot left in the Downs on the morning of the 2nd. Had very light winds down the Channel, leaving Ushaut on the 9th August. Thence had light N.E. winds, and picked up the N.E. trades off Maderia on the lt7h of August and cai.'ied them as far as 17° N. They were very i; ght. Got the S.E. trades in 2° N., and crossed the Equator on September Sth in longitude 20° N. Moderate S.E. trades continued to 19° S.; thence light N. and N. E. to 2V S. From this had vaiiable wiuds from N.W. to S.W. to the meridian of the Cape, which was passed on the sth of October in latitude 45 deg. In running down her east:*ig the Ferndale had a succession of fresh gales from S.W. to N.W. with a very hea\y fall of 'rain. On the 6th of October, in lat. 44 deg. 30 sec. S., long. 23 deg. 30 sec. E., a terrific gale was encountered from W.N.W., during -which the lower mabitopmast yard was cat ried away. On the ISth of the same month the vessel met with another severe gale from S.S.W., with a fearful sea running. The sea broke on board, and stove in the skylight, the water rushing down and flood big the fore and after cabins. Tasmania was rounded on the 2nd November ; thence had light N. winds, and. made the North t-'ape on the 14t instant at noon. Had light land and sea breezes down the coast, anchoring under Eangltoto at 11 p,m. yesterday.
