Prices : - Hand Machines, £6 6s ; Stand Machines, £7 7s to £8 Bs. Agent :— T. PEACOCK, OPTICIAN, Queen street, near the Bank ov New Zealand. THE "SINGER" TRIUMPHANT. nn H E following abstract is taken JL from tho Custom-house report of the Melbourne Journal of Commerce, showirg the import value of Sewing Machines imported by Victoria during the year 1872 from the two leading Sewing Machine Manufacturers in the world. The Machines imported from makers of less note are not taken into consideration :—Stanford and Co., Agents "for the "Singer" Manufacturing Company, 4719 cases, value £24,955 ; Lono and Co , Agents for the Wheeler and Wilson Company, 1G35 cases, value .-CBGIG ; showing difference in favor of the " binger " Machine of 3084 cases, value £10,309 This extraordinary success of the "Singer" has been mainly achieved by the Company's " New Family " Machine, which is universally acknowledged to be the most simple to .. ENGLAND, combine the best parts of the best Machines (avoiding their defects) with some recent special improvements, which no other Machine possesses. Every make of Machine, however far removed from excellence, professes to be better than any other. The task of selecting a Sewing Machine is therefore rather a difficult one, especially if the purchaser has no knowledge of machines, and has no other guide than the representation of various dealers. Many people convinced of the advantage to be derived from using a Machine for needlework do not yet possess one because among so many they are unable to satisfy themselves as to which make is the best. As a practical man and an Engineer allow m« to point out some of the advantages of these Machines. They will do all that any other Machine will, and do it better, including Hemming, Quilting, FeUing, Cording, Binding, Braiding, Stitching, &c., &c, with a perfect stitch alike en both sides. They are fitted with an_ improved break, which prevents the Machine turning the wrong way, and so entangling and breaking the thread. They make less noise than most Machines, and ia the nearest possible approach to noiseless. They are very simple, and will run for years without costing a shilling for repairs. Every Machine is Warranted. Machines let out on hire, the payment for which goes towards the purchase. Machines of other makers taken in exchange. Repairs properly done. Needles for various Mathines, Oil, Cotton, and Extras. G, W. HESLOP, ENG-INEEE. Tll£ $imm Shop, VubCAN Im%
