THE STAR CARRIER PIGEONS.
The bustle and the weariness .and strife Which lately stirred the Province to its soul, Have mingled with the level flow of life, Which e'er succeeds the closing of the poll. But while the sti aggie was at fever-height, 'Tween Williamson, and Dargavllle, and Lusk ; The pretty pigeons—messengers of light— S The numbers polled brought to the Star ere dusk. From sea-washed isles and settlements afar, O'er slumbrous vallays, bright with sparkling dews These trusty agents of the Evening Star Came, one by one, with folded scraps of news.
