RAIN CLOUDS
To the Editor of the Evening Stab. Sic, —I have repeatedly noticed that the ordinary firing of salutes on public hollidays, has had the effect of bringing down the rain, whenever the clouds have been near the earth. As the hours between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. are not always favorable for stimulating the clouds, I think that a few salvos from H.M.S. Blanche would have the dasired effect; if it had been tried last night, I believe we should have had a good shower of rain. I presume JJ TM 'a uLipa are not precluded from Yours, &c, Wide-awake.
