POLICE COURT.
THIS DAY. Before H. H. Turton, and T. B. Gillies, Esqa., J.Ps. DKUNKENNESS: A man was fined 5s and costs for having been drunk; one was sentenced to 48 hours' hard labor, for repeating the offence three times within three months ; and two men were fined 20s and costs for having been drunk and disorderly. OBSCENE LANGUGAGE; Jeffery Smith, alias John Smith or Smyth pleaded guilty to making use of profane, indecent, and obscene language, within the hearing of persons, passing in a public place, to wit, Wellesley street. Fined 40s and costs. ALLEGED LARCENY. John Mullaly appeared in answer to a snmmons charging him with stealing -Ctfiree loads of manure, value 7s 6d, at N£.-«narlr*t f on the 27th November last, the property of Richard Sandall. Mr Joy for the defendant, pleaded not Mr Beveridge prosecuted on behalf of Mr Brookfield. , Richard Sandall deposed to having had some manure placed in a paddock at Newmarket, and to having missed a quantity of it in November last, which he discovered lying in Mullaly's paddock, but was unable to find out until now wW **-ad removed the samo. He had givei_ o permission at the time to carry it away. ' To Mr Joy: A notice to defendant to remove his pigs was given in June last, and not in November. There is a case pending at the Eesident Magistrate's Court between Mullaly and himself, and he might have agreed to settle this matter if that case was withdrawn. The manure was carted to his paddock in the first instance by Rcdshaw. Had not Redshaw here to-day. Richard Rodney, who had a delicacy about giving his evidence without his expenses, which were handed to him. He deposed to having been in Mullaly's employ for some years and to having carted the manure away at his instructions, and depositing it in Mullaly's paddock. _ Mullaly told him he had received notice to remove everything off the paddock. Had been in Mullaly's company since last Court day drinking with him. Summons dismissed. PBOVOKING LANGUAGE.
James Mills, alias Hardgoovo was charged by Sarah Crockett with using insulting and provoking language towards her on the 4th inst.
Mr Joy appeared for the complainant; Mr Beveridge for defendant. A cross summons had been taken out.
Bound over in £20, and two securities of £10, to keep the peace for throe months. Cross summons withdrawn.
