ARRIVAL OF THE FERNDALE FROM LIVERPOOL.
The Ferndale, a nice little barque of over 400 tons register, arrived in harbour this morning from Liverpool, after a protracted passage from Liverpool. Captain Frazer reports leaving Liverpool on tho 15th September, and on the 19th took her final departure from Tuskar. On the 23rd, 24th, and 25th. of the same month she encountered a fearful gale veering from S. W. to W., with terrific squalls, during which very heavy seas were shipped and the ship labored heavily. The N.E trades were picked up on the 4th October, and lost on the 14th ; they proved very light. Crossed the Equator on October 2Gth in 25° W. Took the S.E. trades on the line and lost them again on the 11th November. They proved very indifferent, the ship never going more than four or five knots. The meridian of the Cape was passed on the 27th November, and in running her eastings fdown she experienced westerly winds. On the 6th December was in sight of the Desert Island, where she met with severe weather. Bounded Tasmania on the 31st December. Had fine weather, with W. rto S.W. winds across, and made the land on the 15th instant. Had light winds down the coast. Spoke the ship Queen Bee on the 7th Octobar from London to Wellington. The particulars of the Ferndale's cargo will be found under the head of imports.
