WELLINGTON.
January 16. The papers announce 14 cases of insolvency. Mr Pirham, a solicitor, has had his discharge suspended for objectionable practises. A Chinaman has been committed for trial for stabbing another. The Builders strike is over. A burglary has taken place at the Synagogue, and the silver stolen. A Taranaki man named Rattenburgh had his eye cut out, and has since died. The Hangatira is expected to leave Napier to-morrow for Auckland. A fire has occurred at a wool shed at Maungaharuru. Kereopa's body .after execution was carried from pa to pa by. the natives. A rifle match between Napier and Wanganui Volunteers has taken place. The latter won.
