THE VOLUNTEER CHRONICLE.

The Auckland Rifle Brigade will parade this evening at 7 o'clock in the Albert Barracks. Shot and shell practice will take place at Fort Britoinart, at half-past 5 to-mor-row morning. A meeting of No 2 Company, Naval Volunteers was held last evening, Captain Johnson occupied the chair. The meeting elected Mr C. B. Andrew as Captain, Mr A Bowden Sub-Lieutenant, and Messrs S Fulljames, T A Cooper, A Watson, G Townley Petty Officers. An international rifle match has been arranged between .Volunteers of Irish, English, and Scotch descent, to take place in the month of February next. A cavalry pouch-belt has been presented to the Auckland Troop, Royal Cavalry Volunteers by its honorary members, for competition by all the members of the corps. The belt is handsomely finished and mounted, and reflects great credit on Mr Lysnar, who made the silver mountings, and on Mr W. S. Jones for the leather work. The belt must be thrice won before becoming the absolute property of the holder. The commanding officer, Captain W. Shera, has presented a handsome cup for competition also. The members of the Auckland Troop Eoyal Cavalry Volunteers are requested to assemble in the Albert Barracks, mounted, to-morrow afternoon at five o'clock for general and skirmishing drill. They are informed that the usual inspection under Colonel Harington will take place early next month. Major Gordon has issued a notice to officers commanding Cadet corps, calling attention to the regulations laid down for Cadet firing and warning them that in the event of any accidenttaking place through non-compliance with these rules, captains of companies will be held responsible.
