ALBERT BARRACKS.

To the Editor of tho Evening Stab. Sib,— Can yon tell me who has control of these grounds P or who gives permit for such sports as Caledonian games, &c. If the proceeds or balance after expenses is to be given to local charities, well and good ; if not, I question if it is wise to have these grounds cut up, ana the public excluded from their use. There are plenty of paddocks in the vicinity of Auckland which could be used for such purposes, and it would put a few shillings in the way of the bus proprietors, express carts, &c, Ac. It is quite time this Albert Barracks enclosure was placed under some local control. Yours obedient, a. m.
