HARBOR BOARD

A. special meeting of the Harbor Board was held yesterday afternoon, at which were present Captain Daldy, chairman, and Messrs Philips, Casey, Copland, Macready, Dargavillo, Boylaii, Anderson, Niccol, and Joues.

The Chairman said the object of the special meefing was to pass the salaries for the future year, as well as the accounts of liabilities, so that, they might be audited and seat ia to the Government by the 14th January. He suggested that the officers be Informed that after the Ist proximo they hold their offices subject to any new arrangements the Board may hereafter make, and that the salaries of chief harbormaster, pilots, and wharfingers be taken into consideration next meeting ; he suggested also that next meeting should be on Tuesday week. A molion was made to that effect by Mr Philips, and seconded by Mr Dargaville.

The monthly accounts were then passed, and expenditure to the amount of £3232 15s 7d, was authorised, leaving a balance of £433 13s sd, at the credit of the board. Mr Boylan moved, and Mr Jones seconded a motion to the effect that the Secretary be instructed to write to the Superintendent, requesting to know when it woiild be convenient to pay the £25,000 voted by the Provincial Government, for harbor purposes.
