Before his Worship the Mayor and L D Nathan, Esq, J P. DRUNKENNESS.
One person was punished in the usual manner for a second offence.
BREACH OF lIABBOR itEGULATIONS
The case against Peter Matzcn was further adjourned for a fortnight.
LARCENY,
The charge preferred against James Millan for stealing two boxes containing property to the value of £13, belonging to H Schildt, was adjourned till next Wednesday, bail-being enlarged.
VIOLENT ASSAULT.
William Farrell was charged by William Gribble with violently assaulting him by throwing him off the Queen street wharf; and James Farrell was charged with aiding and abetting him. Mr Broham stated the facts of the case, and said that prosecutor was unwilling to proceed, as he had received no damage. Gribble stated that he thought the men had received sufficient punishment, and hoped it would be a caution to them in future. The case was accordingly withdrawn. ANOTHER LARCENY. Catherine Reynolds pleaded not guilty to a charge ofstealing a cloak, hat, and parasol from the dwelling of Elizabeth McFarlane. The case was fully proved against her, and as she was an' old offender she was sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labour.
