CITY COUNCIL ELECTION.

We have just heard on good authority that Mr E Isaacs will stand as a candidate for election to the City Council in the room of Mr Atkin resigned. We are glad to hear this. Of all the candidates whose names have yet been rumoured, Mr Isaacs would be the most likely to win the suffrages of the city, and to make the most practical and painstaking councillor. We shall probably have a rather sharp contest, and if ratepayers do no more than elect Mr Isaacs, they will have reason to rest satisfied.
