MRS LEWIS'S FAREWELL BALL.
Mrs Lewis' Christmas ball and faroweli breaking up party came off at the Drillshed last evening and was attended with the utmost success. The number of guests present may be estimated at 400. Mrs Lewis has determined to retire from scholastic duties and carries with her the regret ef both pupils and parents. The prizes wore distributed by the Eev C M Nelson, who alluded in a very pertinent speech to the extremely efficient manner in which the whole of the educational duties undertaken by Mrs Lewis had been been carried out. Some solos and duets were performed, on the pianoforte by the pupils in a highly creditable manner. The supper was of a most recherche description. Dancing was kept up with spirit, until an early. The following is the list of scholars who were presented with prizes : — First Class (Mrs Lewis) :' Miss Casey, Miss Asher, Miss Langsford, Miss Herries, Miss Lane, Miss G Balneavis, Miss C Copland, Miss H Posseneskie, Miss Gwynneth, Miss O'Neil, Miss E Keesing, Miss E Lillewall. Second Division (Miss Adams) : Firt class—Miss Ada Levy, Miss Hayward, Miss Annie Levy, Miss V Levy, Miss H Langsford, Miss Moore, Miss Douglas, Mis T Powley, Miss A Nicol, Mi<s S Lipstine, Miss E Ed«ar, Miss A Bowden, Miss Howard, Master Goldwater , Master McDermott, Master Oliver. Third class (Miss C Hooper)— Master H Keesing, Master H Goldwater, Miss Elkin, Miss A Copland, Miss Leech, Miss J Nicol. Boy's class : Masters Levy, Powell, Asher, D Joseph, P Joseph, i' Beale, E Beale, Thompson, H Ansell, Sullivan, and F Nicol.
