To the Editor of the Evenixg Stab. Me. Editoe, —Mr Charles Atkin requires the anonious writers in the Cross to give their names. lam not one, but I do say to him that he should not do an act and then regret it- I say to him don't ask the Council if they wish you to take your seat, but ask your constituents who you are supposed to represent (the Mayor uses a vote in division and casting vote if required) "bad taste," it is very little to use power that law gives, but which justice denies, Mr. A., truckle to no man or class, but be an independent citizen. Yours, O. S. Ellis. Hoptoun-street. [We presume Mr. Atkin has the common right of changing his mind, nor would any objection have been raised by any one were it not for ulterior purposes.—Ed. E.S.]
