EARLY CLOSING ASSOCIATION.
The annual meoting or the above Association was held last evening at the rooms of the Young Mens' Christian Association. There was a small attendance. Mr. Pavies was iv the chair. The Secretary brought up the report; which was adopted. A-statement o' accounts was also passed. It shewed that during the year the sum of £22 was received and expended; A discussion ensued about the advisability of other trades besides drapers joining the Association; and it was ultimately resolved to ask the assistants in the various retail trades to join the Association. The Secretary made a long statement about other trades receiving tha benefit of their agitation, they having received fie Saturday half-holiday, and then turned ilieubacks on the promoters. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring officers,'and the following gentlemen were elected for the ensuing year: — Chairman, Mr. Daviea ; Treasurer,' Mr. Linnbnry; Secretary, Mr. Cloonan; and Counnitte, MesSva. JUeonard, Clark, Bridger, Shaw, and Bridger. A vote of thanks to ilie Chairman anieHuU".! the meeting.
