AUCKLAND COLLEGE BAZAAR.
The bazaar in aid of the funds of the Cadet Company and Athletic Sports Club, was opened this afternoons at the Auckland College. For some time past extensive preparations were being wade for the occasion. We pnid the College a visit this afternoon, and were pleaßiugly surprised to find that everything aeoined to be carried out with such organization. There was no clashing or disorder, as is sometimes noticed in bazaars, but everything was done with perfect ease, and the various stalls were so arranged as to greatly add to the effect of the whole. The articles offered for Bale wore of a costly and attractive description. The appearance of thu stalls spoke volumes lor the skill and industry of the ladies who had contributed. We cannot specify the number of articles with which the various stalls are furnished, cases of ferns, ship models, curiosities of every kind, smoking caps and slippers, gigantic wax dolls dressed in the niOßt fasbinnble attire, dolls' houses fitted up with all the latest improvements, pictures, embroidery of every description, and a thousand other little trifles, which do much to increase the comforts of a home. The stalls were presided over by a number of fair ladies, whoee graceful bearing and win; uing ways did good work in extracting from the pocket many a hidden sovereign, which, perhaps, never anticipated such an exchange. The Volunteer Band was there discoursing sweet sounds, which were supplemented by the sweet renderings of fair finders on the pianoforte. Taken altogether, the buzaaris calculated to prove a very great success, and reflects the greatest credit on the interest taken by the respects!s?rinoipal and his staff of assistants.
