LAUNCH OF A STEAMER.

A very neat little paddle-wheel steamer, about 25 tons measurement, was launched today at-half-past twelve, from the building yard of Mr. Duthie, at the end of Custom house-street. She is strongly built, and her Hneß are good, promising a fair rate of speed. One of the young sons of Mr. Duthie performed the! duties connected with naming her, and as he threw the bottle against her prow, named her the « Effort." It is not yet certain in what trade she is to be employed, bu± there is no doubt she will not belong idle, for vessels of this class are much required in the trade within the Hauraki gulf.
