THIS DAY
Foe the Provincial Council, this evening, there is but a short business paper. The Highways Act' Amendment Bill is to be further considered in committee : the adjourned debate will take .place on Mr. Creighton's motion with reference to tinaction in the General Assembly in relation to Provincial Institutions ; and the following notices are to be considered: —■
• Mr. Ellis to move, "That a respectful address be presented to His Honor the Superintendent, requesting him to cause to be placed upon the additional estimates a sum. of £200 for tho establishment of a female reformatory, under such conditions and arrangements as the Government think proper to prescribe." , Mr. Philips to move, " That a respectful address be presented to His Honor the Superintendent, requesting him" to place on the estimates the sum of £300, being a sum to supplement the present capitation allowance to the Volunteers of the Province of Auckland."
