DISTRICT COURT.— Tuesday.

[Before Thomas Beokhem, Esq., District Judge.] Gold Mining Companies (Soitthebn CuOSS.) —;Mr. Workman objected to be placed oa the list of contributors, on the ground that he was not a shareholder. —Mr. Hees appeared for the Official Agent, and Mr. Macdonald for the objector. —The case was one of argument, which occupied a considerable time. Tbe arguments ip support of the objection to being made a contributor were based on the following facts :—Mr. Workman purchased from a Mr. Steveuson, and received a transfer, the vendor paying an overdue call. Mr. Workman tendered the transfer for registration, but was rejected, and upon this ground he claimed to be exempt, aud it was contended that the transferor, and not the transferee, was liable. —His Honor having heard the arguments of counsel, deferred judgment to next Courtday. . ( • * .. ■ i ! ■ " Lone Stab Cold Mining Company.—Mr. Rees appeared for the Official Agent.—Robert Wynu objected to being made a contributor, on tho ground that he was not liable for calls. It was stated that the unpaid calls amounted to £1100, and the debts and expenses did not exceed £100. It was said that the claim upon the objector did not exceed a few shilliugs.— Judgment was given in rupport of the application. Proof PositlTß. —Mr. Rees applied that the claim of Mr. W. C. Wright be struck out. —The Official Agent, proved the notices.—Tho claimant did not appear. Claim struck out. —Thomas Henry, 0.E., who had received judgment against the company for £36, now said be woul I not have sued had he been aware of facts which had,since come to his Knowledge.'—Tho hearing was adjourned to the first Court-cay in February.
